Blown tire leads to Cobb County motorcycle crash

Emergency responders took the 74-year-old motorcyclist to an area hospital, where he required surgery for his injuries.

Georgia motorcycle accident leaves 1 dead

A young man is now dead following a tragic accident in Richmond County. The man was riding a motorcycle when the driver of an SUV crashed into him at an intersection. The motorcycle accident is currently under review by Richmond County police, and charges are reportedly pending.

The accident happened on March 1 along North Leg Road near Gordon Highway. The 24-year-old motorcycle driver from Augusta, Georgia, had been traveling northbound on his motorcycle when the driver of an SUV crashed into him. The SUV driver had been attempting to make a turn onto Gordon Highway from North Leg Road when she crashed into the young man's motorcycle. The force of the collision threw both the motorcycle and its driver about 100 feet.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, The 36-year-old motorcycle driver and his 39-year-old passenger were both taken to Northeast Georgia Medical center, where the driver was pronounced dead and his passenger remains in critical condition.

Motorcycle accident kills Harrison High Graduate

A 20-year-old Acworth, Georgia, resident and 2009 graduate of Harrison High School was the victim of a tragedy last week. The fatal motorcycle accident occurred just outside the University of West Georgia football stadium. A 2006 Nissan Maxima, driven by a 23-year-old Allenhurst, Georgia, woman, made a left turn directly in front of the man's motorcycle at around 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 4 and caused the accident.

The victim had recently begun studying finance at West Georgia, which he attended on a golf scholarship. He had previously attended Georgia Southern University. He was described by his father as devout Christian and personable. He'd been an avid golfer since he was 14 years old.

Six fatal motorcycle accidents in Atlanta area in recent months

Over the last several months at least six motorcyclists were involved in fatal motorcycle crashes on Atlanta highways. On Sept. 15, a motorcycle accident occurred when a 35-year-old man hit a tire thread when it became airborne after hitting another car. The cyclist lost control and ended up resting in the middle of the roadway. A tractor trailer was not able to stop his vehicle and ran over the biker causing his death.

On Aug. 20, a 31-year-old Norcross resident died on Interstate 75 in Cobb County when his Kawasaki Vulcan was struck by two vehicles. Authorities say the driver of a Porsche 944 caused the accident and fled the scene. The 32-year-old man and his 41-year-old female passenger were arrested two weeks later when they tried to have the car repaired in Alabama.

Serious motorcycle accident in North Georgia caused by DUI

Motorcycle accidents are extremely frightening and carry a great potential for serious injury. Because motorcyclists do not have airbags, a seat belt or the sturdy frame of a car to protect them, they are left very vulnerable in accidents. A recent motorcycle accident in North Georgia has left one man critically injured.

According to reports, the 18-year-old driver of a Jeep Cherokee pulled out in front of the motorcycle just before 11:30 p.m. on Highway 154. The motorcycle collided with the side of the Cherokee, and the rider was thrown into the air. He was tossed roughly 25 feet before landing in the roadway. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. The motorcycle accident victim was airlifted to Grady Hospital for treatment of severe injuries.

6 injured in Georgia motorcycle accident

Motorcycle accidents are often among most dangerous motor vehicle accidents. Motorcyclists are very vulnerable if involved in accidents. Because they do not have seat belts, air bags or the metal frame of a car to protect them from the impact of a collision, they can be seriously injured or even killed in a crash. A recent Georgia motorcycle accident left six individuals injured.

The crash occurred Wednesday evening in Fulton County. Police report that both a motorcycle and a car were involved, and six people were injured as a result. Three of those individuals are said to be in critical condition. According to reports, a helicopter was flown to the scene to transport those who sustained the most severe injuries to a hospital.
